Native - Australian Plant Essential Oils

For Description & Uses:

Aniseed Myrtle - 1/4 fl oz (7.5 ml) $12.03

Syzygium anisatum

Description:

Aniseed_myrtle.JPGAniseed Myrtle grows in Australian sub-tropical rainforest fringes in only two valleys in Eastern Australia, often in the same area as Backhousia citriodora (Lemon Myrtle), which it closely resembles. It has undergone botanical reassignment in recent years, being changed from Backhousia anisata to Anetholea anisata, and now to Syzygium anisatum. Happily, its exquisite aromatic and flavor properties remain unchanged. Because of the presence of estragole (typically less than 10% in our oil) care should be exercised in formulating skin cosmetics and flavor applications. Since it has high aroma impact, it can be used at very low concentrations in aromatherapy and diffusion applications.

Summary of Uses:

  • Antibacterial, carminative, stomachic
  • Fine flavoring agent
  • Recommended concentration in formulations: 0.05% to 0.25%
