Melaleuca quinquenervia (Chemotype C)

Description:

Niaouli.jpgUnlike some of the common niaouli oils (Melaleuca viridiflora), our Australian Niaouli is characterised by its clean, expansive aroma. It is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves of Melaleuca quinquenervia (also known as the Broad-leafed Paperbark). Its cleansing, tangy notes have a milder, sweeter aroma than the high-cineole Eucalyptus oils.

Its main uses are in aromatherapy and cosmetics. While Niaouli has less antimicrobial and antifungal properties than Tea Tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia), it is widely recognized for its usefulness in respiratory ailments and problem skin conditions. A beautiful "open air, outdoors" aroma.

Summary of Uses:

  • Therapeutic formulations, particularly for inhalations
  • Antimicrobial
  • Recommended concentration in formulations: In "rinse-off" product formulations: <1%. In "leave-on" product formulations: <0.25%
