1. Questions about Plant Extracts International

Are Aethereo Essential Oils "therapeutic grade"?

Plants create perfect organic chemical compounds for their own needs and purposes.

People then distill the plants and recover the volatile parts as essential oils.

Some people use these essential oils for wellness and personal pleasure, since many of these essential oils have been shown to have therapeutic applications, and many have attractive aromas, sometimes both.

Some people use these essential oils to support multilevel marketing systems, and attempt to lead people into believing that theirs are better/best/unique/therapeutic, and so on. And some do believe.

Others let the essential oils speak for themselves, give them back their voice so that they can speak to those who use them respectfully.

The plants produced them perfectly in the first place.

What people believe after that depends upon how well they choose to listen.

What is your company’s position on organic?

Organic certification of essential oils does not take into account the main reasons why we choose and use essential oils: for their aromatic qualities and perceived health benefits. Our essential oils are chosen on different criteria – olfactory excellence. Some may have organic assertions, and sometimes the finest oil we can find does come with organic claims attached. In most cases we do not emphasize this, although it may influence the product price.

Biodynamic agricultural methods were developed mainly in Germany and supported by Rudolph Steiner. They are intended as a means to return to ecologically-sound and sustainable agricultural production of foods by enhancement of soil biology and structure. This was and still is accomplished without the use of man-made herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. Biodynamic agriculture has devolved into organic agriculture, with some of the esoteric methodology being abandoned in favor of a more easily implemented system. Nevertheless, when honestly pursued, with soil enhancement as the primary objective and healthful food as a logical outcome, organic agriculture is a highly worthy method of food production on a small to medium scale.

Whether the highly important organic growing of food and its certification should spill over automatically to essential oils is a matter of debate. Organically-grown herbs? Definitely. The distilled, hydrolysed, volatile fraction from those herbs? In our opinion, no. In many cases, the plant matter remaining, after being distilled and thereby sterilized, is sold as organic garden mulch. In doing so, the soils in which the plants are grown are further depleted in order to create another viable farming income stream. While this is understandable, it remains a complete denial of the major Organic rationale: improvement of depleted soils.

For these reasons, unless we have deep knowledge of the growing, harvesting, and distillation of an essential oil which meets our olfactory criteria, organic certification is not the primary reason for selection for use by Plant Extracts International.

Do your products ever go “on sale”?

We do not run promotional sales. We strive to keep our prices fair and consistent, and do not engage in an effort to artificially pulse sales. We do not build promotions into our pricing, nor do we have the added costs of promoting sales, which keeps our prices low and competitive. We prefer that our customers order because they are ready to purchase, not because they are waiting for a sale or promotion to reduce inflated prices. Our customers appreciate the consistency in pricing and the freedom to purchase whenever they are ready, without the risk of missing a sale.

2. Questions about H2EO Diffusers

How big is an H2EO Diffuser?

Light and compact, an H2EO diffuser weighs less than one pound and is approximately 4" high and 7" in diameter. The energy efficient switch-mode power adapter included with the diffuser weighs less than 5 ounces.

What are its electronic specifications?

The adapter is 110/240 volts AC and 50/60 Hz. The adapter output is 24 volts DC. The H2EO diffuser runs on 24 volts DC.

What size space will an H2EO Diffuser treat?

Depending on factors including airflow and humidity, H2EO Diffusers are effective in an area of up to 1500-2200 cubic feet.

Is there a difference in performance between the Blue Lights and Multi-Colored Lights models?

Both models are the same high quality diffuser design. The only differences are the colored display lights and the color of the outside of the diffuser itself. The Multi-Colored Lights Diffuser has a warm taupe and silver colored case, and five different display lights options. All lights, including the red power light, turn off for peaceful sleep. The Blue Lights Diffuser has a light blue and silver colored case, and only blue display lights. When you turn the display lights off, the red power light and the green bar indicator light go off, just as they do with the Multi-Colored Lights model.

What do the colored lights mean?

Many people attribute different light wavelengths to certain effects. Most people simply enjoy the ambience of the different colors. Our belief is that all lights should be turned off for the most healthful sleep.

Does the diffuser make a sound when it shuts off?

Our diffusers run very quietly when diffusing, and they do not make a beeping or other sound when they shut off.

Do the display lights shut off when the diffuser shuts off?

If you are running the diffuser with the display lights on, the display lights will not automatically turn off when the diffuser shuts off at low water.

Does the diffuser have a timer?

Yes, there are five preset timed settings on H2EO diffusers. In the first setting, Mode 1, the diffuser will run continuously until shutting off when it reaches low water level. In Mode 2, the diffuser will run continuously and then shut off after two hours. In Mode 3, it will diffuse for 3 seconds then rest for 40 seconds. In Mode 4, it will diffuse for 15 seconds then rest for 50 seconds. And in Mode 5, it will diffuse for 30 minutes then rest for 15 minutes. In Modes 3, 4, and 5 diffusion will continue intermittently until low water level reached. The timed setting, along with the number of drops of oil you choose, gives you a lot of control over the amount of EO/mist put out.

Can I diffuse around my pets?

When used appropriately and in small quantities, most essential oils are safe to diffuse around pets, including birds. Diffusion is by far the safest way to use essential oils around pets. At these extremely low levels, your pets should benefit right along with you. Consult your veterinarian if you have concerns about your pet’s allergies or reactions to specific chemicals. As manufacturers, we do not offer advice on specific issues or ailments your pet may be experiencing. If in doubt, there are resources available to pet owners on the internet and in print.

Where are H2EO Diffusers made?

With components sourced to our design and technical specifications, H2EO Diffusers are assembled in Taiwan, and are tested, and supported in the USA. They are backed by our 12-month full warranty and fast, low-cost, dependable service in Hopkins, Minnesota. We work hard to keep our customers happily diffusing, and to keep their diffusers out of landfills.

Do H2EO Diffusers contain BPA?

H2EO Diffusers are 100% BPA and plasticizer free.  Our diffusers are intended for use with pure essential oils or pure essential oil blends that are free of fragrance oils, perfumes, or carrier oils.  The material in the bowl of the H2EO Diffuser will not interact with essential oils.

Can H2EO Diffusers be used in other countries?

H2EO diffusers can operate in any country with the right power adapter. The only changes to the H2EO adapter that are required for operation are accommodations for the various pin configurations that allow the adapter to be plugged into a power outlet. We supply either Americas/Japan (straight pin) or E.U./Israel (round pin) adapters. For countries outside these areas, wall outlet adapters are typically available at low cost at general stores or travel agencies in that country, or can be purchased online.

How should I clean my H2EO Diffuser?

At least once a week, empty your diffuser's bowl and wipe it out with an alcohol wipe, a soft, damp cloth, or a facial tissue. Use a Q-tip or a small brush to gently clean hard to reach places.

While empty, look to make sure the fan on the bottom of your diffuser is free of dust and hair. Pet owners find that occasional gentle vacuuming of the fan area will keep the fan clean and free to rotate.

Some essential oils may contain small amounts of natural plant waxes or resins. These may build up over time unless removed by occasional cleaning.

You can clean your diffuser's bowl by filling it with 8 ounces of pure water and adding a few drops of a mild dish detergent or vinegar. Run the diffuser for a few minutes. Empty the bowl, and carefully rise with clean water. Empty again and refill to operating level. Add your essential oil and enjoy!

Certain essential oils, for example, clove and cinnamon bark, will cause permanent discoloration of the bowl; however, this does not affect diffusion.

Do not use abrasives or chemical cleaners in the bowl or on the transducer in the bottom of the bowl.

3. Questions about H2EO Diffuser Service and Warranty

There are very few service needs with H2EO® Diffusers when they are properly used and maintained. By following the instructions in your User Handbook you will learn how to set up, use, and easily maintain your diffuser for many years of happy diffusing.

If you are experiencing a problem with your diffuser, please read through the Troubleshooting Guide found here:  It was developed with feedback from customers and our service experts. If you still need help, please contact us. We are happy to work with you to answer any questions and make certain you understand and use the correct settings. Call our Customer Service at 877-999-4236. Or email us at

Why is my diffuser sparking when I plug it in?

If your H2EO power adapter is left in the wall when you plug in and unplug your diffuser, it may cause a small spark. To avoid this, plug the adapter into the diffuser first, and then into the wall. When unplugging, remove the adapter from the wall first, then from the diffuser. Over time, plugging the diffuser in with the adapter already in the wall may cause damage to the internal components of the diffuser. Even if following the correct order, a small amount of sparking at the wall outlet or socket can be considered normal. Any electrical appliance that presents any kind of a resistive or inductive load may cause sparking at the wall outlet or socket. However, if plugging into the wall causes excessive sparking, that could indicate that the blades within your socket or wall outlet are faulty, and it should be checked by a competent person. If not excessive, this is considered normal.

When the water accumulates at the top of the lid, is it supposed to fall back down into the bowl of water and make a "drip drop" sound?

As the mist rises in the bowl of the diffuser, some will hit the baffle on the underside of the director nozzle. As it condenses it forms drops that will gently fall and sound like softly dripping water. This is normal.

My diffuser does not seem to produce as much mist as I thought it would. Is something wrong?

Most of the time, low mist output is due to factors in the room in which diffusion is taking place. If the diffuser is near an air intake or vent, a fan is running, or a window has been opened, it may appear that the amount of mist coming from the diffuser is reduced. What is really happening is that air movement in the vicinity is causing the mist to evaporate more quickly. The relative humidity in a room will also impact the appearance of the mist as it comes out of the diffuser. If a room is humid, the mist will not evaporate as quickly as it would in a very dry room. If your diffuser had been producing more mist but there is an abrupt change in output, it is possible there is a problem with your diffuser. Please read the Troubleshooting Guide to see if that helps.

Why does the aroma of my essential oil diminish after only a few minutes of diffusing?

As with the majority of scents, human olfactory nerves become adapted to the presence of certain smells in our vicinity. The phenomenon of the nose no longer noticing an odor – adaptation – happens to us within minutes. Walk into a coffee shop, take in its familiar odors and a few minutes later, you might smell…almost nothing. The receptor cells in the nose that noticed the odor simply stopped responding after continued exposure. Therefore, it is natural for people to no longer smell something after a certain length of time.

If you are switching to essential oil diffusers after using candles, for example, or are still having a difficult time even initially smelling your essential oils, it may take 10 to 15 drops (depending on which oil you are using) for you to notice the more subtle aroma. Even so, the scent will become part of your atmosphere, and you may no longer actively realize the scent after diffusing for some time.

Despite their apparent simplicity, H2EO ultrasonic diffusers are efficient in operation, and very economical in terms of the amount of essential oil that is dispersed into the room. The length of time it takes to diffuse a given amount of essential oil into the room depends on these main factors:

1. The amount of essential oil added to the water in the bowl; 10 drops will last longer than 5 drops, but not twice as long.

2. The rate of diffusion, whether low, medium, or high setting; many people run their H2EO diffuser overnight at the low setting to prolong the pleasant aroma.

3. The type of essential oil being diffused; the essential oils that have very volatile, highly aromatic components will lose those components relatively quickly, and their absence is more noticeable. In general, blends will last longer than single essential oils because of the wider variety of constituents with different volatilities. Also, blends that are anchored with a “base note” such as Blue Cypress oil, will hold the more aromatic notes together for longer times.

Keep in mind that essential oils are being dissipated in minute amounts into the air, and that the benefits are there whether you can smell the oils or not.

Why is there water left in my diffuser when it shuts off?

H2EO diffusers leave 2-3 ounces of water in the bowl as a safeguard against running dry, which, it if happened, can damage the electrical components. The water that remains may contain some mutually-soluble essential oil components; and it is a personal choice as to whether or not you wish to empty out the diffuser between every use, or whenever you switch which essential oils you are diffusing.  However, more than 99% of the essential oils’ volatile components have been diffused by the time the diffuser shuts itself off (unless the amount of oil used exceeded the recommendation), so you are not “wasting” any essential oil.

H2EO diffusers are designed to efficiently use 5 to 15 drops of essential oil in the six or so ounces of water converted into mist, meaning the remaining water in a diffuser can be used multiple times.

Is my diffuser overheating if the water or mist feels warm? Won’t this harm the essential oils?

The water in your diffuser's bowl will get warm. Under normal operating conditions, the temperature in the diffuser bowl will be 100°F, plus or minus 20°F.

At these temperatures, there is no effect on the chemistry (and, thus, the efficacy) of any essential oil or oil blend, and the warming will assist in diffusing the essential oil.

Quality essential oils are not affected by temperatures below approximately 160°F.

H2EO Diffusers use ultrasound to create nano-droplets of water, each coated with a molecule-thin layer of the essential oil. To generate these nano-droplets, electronic circuitry is used which generates some heat, which must be dissipated. The most effective way to do this is to transfer the residual heat to the water in the bowl of the diffuser, which is then further dissipated by the diffuser fan into the room's atmosphere.

A gentle warming of the water in the bowl is normal. The temperature of the water will also depend upon factors including room ambient temperature and humidity, and whether or not the diffuser fan air inlet and/or outlet is impeded.

We suggest using a thermometer to test the temperature of the water in your diffuser after it has been running for awhile.

If the water in your diffuser is above approximately 120°F, please see our Troubleshooting Guide.

The nozzle on your diffuser (the small round piece that fits in the center of your lid and directs the mist) should have a baffle on the bottom. The baffle is a flat plastic plate that covers about 2/3 of the bottom of the nozzle.

Why is water splashing out of the top of my diffuser?

If water is coming out of the top of the diffuser, there are three possible causes:

The baffle can detach if the nozzle is dropped or stepped on. If this goes unnoticed it will result in the splashing of water out of the top of the diffuser. This can cause essential oil/water to spill onto the control panel, which can harm the diffuser’s electronics. All H2EO Diffusers come with two director nozzles, one to keep as a spare. If you know where the second nozzle is, or can find it in the original packaging, we recommend using that one as a replacement. If you are unable to locate your second nozzle, nozzles and other accessories are available for purchase at:

Why doesn't my diffuser seem to shut off completely?

When low water level is reached and your diffuser automatically shuts itself off, the fan is programmed to continue to run to complete the automatic cycle. Depending on production run, the fan may run for a few seconds or up to 30 minutes after diffusion stops.

Is it worth getting my diffuser repaired, or should I just buy a new one?

There are exceptionally rare circumstances in which it makes more sense to purchase a new diffuser instead of servicing one you already have. Our services are low-cost and dependable, and we automatically renew the one-year full warranty as of the date of repair. That helps you know that your investment in your H2EO diffuser is a good one. It is always our goal to help people continue to enjoy their diffusers. H2EO diffusers need never end up in a landfill.

Why do I have to pay to send my diffuser in for service?

We do not pay for postage to get a diffuser to us for an evaluation because, in the majority of cases, the diffusers we receive for service are not sent in for warranty-covered issues.

Is the plastic bowl in this diffuser safe for use with all essential oils?

Our diffusers are intended for use with pure essential oils or blends that are free of fragrance oils, perfumes, or carrier oils. The plastic in the bowl of the diffuser will not interact with the chemical compounds in essential oils.

The inside of my diffuser is stained. Is this normal?

Some essential oils, such as clove, cinnamon or sandalwood, can cause the bowl of a diffuser to be permanently stained. This is due to natural compounds found in those essential oils, some of which are partially water-soluble. This does not impact the performance of the diffuser in any way, and is considered normal wear and tear on the diffuser itself and is not covered by warranty. To minimize staining of the bowl, we suggest emptying the water and wiping out the diffuser after each use.

How can I prevent build-up on my diffuser's bowl, lid, and director nozzle?

All essential oils act as solvents to some degree. However, with normal use, this is not a problem with H2EO diffusers. The only situations in which we have seen severe compromising of the materials is with overuse of certain aldehyde-rich oils, such as Lemongrass, Lemon Myrtle, Lemon Tea Tree, May Chang, or Thieves blend which contains Cinnamon.

We recommend using no more than 10-15 drops of essential oil in the diffuser.

With regular cleaning, recommended a minimum of once a week, there should be no build-up either in the bowl or on the lid and nozzle. If you are cleaning your diffuser regularly, and there is still mold or slime, the usual cause is leaving water in the diffuser when it has finished diffusing, in which case there is no essential oil to prevent colonization of the standing water by microbes. If you are not going to be using your diffuser for a day or so, it’s best to empty and wipe it dry.

Check to make sure you are not using a carrier-based essential oil or blend. Some blends contain sesame, coconut, almond, etc. oil, and these are not to be used in the diffuser as they do not diffuse. Except for coconut oil, they will rancidify and form a sticky coating which may affect the efficiency of the diffuser.

If the coating build-up continues, you might try soaking the lid and nozzles in a water/vinegar solution. If you do that on a regular basis you will minimize the problem.

The clouding is a cosmetic issue only, and does not affect the efficiency of the diffuser.

However, if you would like a replacement lid and nozzles, they can be purchased at Or you can order by calling us at 877-999-4236. We are available Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm Central time.

Why do some essential oils collect on the bottom of the diffuser bowl?

There are certain essential oils containing eugenol or methyl eugenol, present for example, in Cinnamon, Cloves, and Thieves blend. These are heavier than water, and will sink to the bottom of the bowl. If using these oils, use sparingly, and clean the diffuser bowl after each use, by running the diffuser with a few drops of vinegar or dish soap for several minutes and then emptying. If essential oil is allowed to remain on the bottom of your diffuser’s bowl, over time it can cause the transducer seal to deteriorate, allowing essential oil to leak onto and damage the transducer.

Why don’t you just replace non-working diffusers under warranty?

We have years of experience helping people with symptoms and probable causes when issues arise with their diffusers. We rarely need to replace a diffuser. As their components are modular and we stock the complete inventory of components, they are nearly always repairable. We work hard to keep our customers happily diffusing, and at the same time, to keep their diffusers out of landfills. This is an aspect of our business that is very important to us. Every diffuser serviced is tested for 48 hours to assure that it is being returned in perfect working condition. When a diffuser comes to us for service, whether it is service covered by warranty, or non-warranty service for a user-related problem, we automatically renew the one-year full warranty as of the date of repair. That should help you feel confident that your investment in your H2EO diffuser is a good one. It is always our goal to help people continue to enjoy their diffusers.

Can an H2EO Diffuser and adapter be used in other countries?

The only changes to the H2EO power adapter that are required for operation in any country are accommodations for the various pin configurations that allow the adapter to be plugged in to a power outlet. We supply either Americas/Japan or EU adapters. For countries outside these areas, a pin adapter is available at low cost at general stores, travel agencies, etc. in the particular country. Any of the pin adapters shown at will enable you to use the voltage adapter supplied with our H2EO diffuser, which has an input voltage of 110-250 VAC, and an output of 24 VDC.

4. Questions about Aethereo Essential Oils

What causes variations in perception of aroma intensity of essential oils?

There are several quite well-researched explanations why the aroma of a particular essential oil is differently perceived by different people, and even by the same person at differing times, with no variation in environmental parameters such as temperature, air movement, or relative humidity.

Further, under controlled conditions, the same individual may perceive the differences between various essential oils even more widely.  For example, Rosemary (cineole chemotype) oil has a minimal perception threshold 10 times lower than that of Sweet Orange Oil, all other things being equal.

Different people have widely divergent “aroma acuity” when referencing the same essential oil, for various physiological and psychological reasons.

Perception of the aroma of an essential oil is dependent upon measurable physical parameters such as vapor pressure, vapor density, and the degree of olfactory equilibrium in the plant chemical mixture that we recognize as an essential oil.

Previous exposure to an essential oil or the plant part from which it is derived, plus a personal physiological assessment of its intensity of its aroma, allows us to evaluate and characterize the essential oil.

Whether we are able to evaluate and characterize the aroma does not necessarily enable us to determine how beneficial or not inhalation of the vapors of an essential oil may be. A strongly-perceived aroma is not a guarantee of a noticeable physiological benefit, and the opposite is equally true: a barely-perceived aroma may be found to be very beneficial.

Research makes it clear that olfactory recognition of an essential oil and its intensity falls more into the area of psychological perception. Research also clearly shows us that the physiological benefit gained from inhaling an essential oil, which may in fact be able to be measured more empirically, does not necessarily correlate with its aroma and intensity.

In our opinion, we can gain much more from study and use of essential oils if we appreciate these differences.

What are your most popular essential oils?

Outside of the ever popular single oils such as Lavender, Frankincense, Eucalyptus, Ginger, Lemon, Mandarin, Marjoram, Niaouli, Sweet Orange, Roman Chamomile, Peppermint, and Spearmint - our blends are our best-selling essential oils. Most popular are Calm, Citrus, Ginger Melablend (Un-Nausea in the AethereoStick), Lavender BlueMel (Peace in the AethereoStick), Niaouli Melablend (Breathe in the AethereoStick), Northwoods, Therabreathe, VetiRose, and Rosalina BlueMel (Yoga in the AethereoStick). These blends are aromatically balanced and formulated to maximize the efficacy of the constituents chosen for specific aromatic benefits.

Are any of your essential oils organic?

Some of our essential oils are organic but this is not the main selection criterion.  For our position on organic, please see above.

What sort of quality testing do Aethereo® essential oils undergo before being sold?

Aethereo essential oils are analyzed before use by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry to verify their conformance with our standards. A full range of physical criteria are also measured and assessed for conformance.

Are Aethereo® essential oils safe to use around pets?

When used appropriately and in small quantities, most essential oils are safe to diffuse around pets, including birds. Diffusion is by far the safest way to use essential oils around pets. At these extremely low levels, your pets should benefit right along with you. Consult your veterinarian if you have concerns about your pet’s allergies or reactions to specific chemicals. As manufacturers, we do not offer advice on specific issues or ailments your pet may be experiencing. If in doubt, there are resources available to pet owners on the internet and in print.

How should these essential oils be stored?

Unlike vegetable oils, which are non-volatile fatty acids and are prone to rancidity, essential oils are volatile, do not contain many oxidation-prone constituents, and are therefore very resistent to oxidation. Some, under extreme conditions, can oxidize. That can happen if the essential oil is subjected to heat, sunlight, or the cap being left of the bottle for an extended period of time. Given this severe ill-treatment, some oils more than others, can oxidize over time. Only vegetable oils, other than fractionated coconut oil, will rancidify over time.

Room temperature is sufficient to store good quality essential oils. Storage in a refrigerator is not necessary, although in our laboratory we do store Reference Standard essential oils in a refrigerator, and Batch Retention samples in freezers, where we keep them for a statutory five years.

Small refrigerators generally run at about 38-40F, but their most useful feature is that essential oils can be stored in the dark, away from fluorescent lighting. Even though amber glass is fairly useful in keeping ultraviolet light away from the essential oils, dark is better. We use LED lighting in all areas where essential oils are handled, since there are no ultraviolet frequencies in the LED lighting spectrum.

We recommend the use of 7.5 ml bottles of essential oils. If the bottles are stored properly, and firmly capped when not in use, you can use them with confidence for several months or more.

Do not use massage blends that use any carrier oil other than fractionated coconut oil, which is extremely stable. All other vegetable oils will go rancid to a greater or lesser degree.

Why do the drips coming out of the bottles vary?

We use the standard 1.0 millimeter orifice for all of our essential oils. Smaller orifice sizes are not readily available, and are very frustrating to use with any but the lightest of oils.

The less viscous essential oils do pour more easily than the heavier oils, and we realize this can be something of a problem which can be partly overcome with different pouring techniques; some people try tilting the bottle less, which does help in the timing of the number of drops.

Paradoxically, holding the bottle vertical while dispensing drops allows for a slower drip because the air pressure in the bottle is not equalized, so surface tension is helping to control the drip rate. The trick then is to quickly turn the bottle right way up when the correct amount is about to be dispensed. The well in the drip cap will return any undispensed essential oil to the bottle.

Can your company tell me which oils to use for certain medical conditions or ailments?

Please understand that as a manufacturer of natural products, our company maintains compliance with FDA regulations, and therefore cannot dispense any information that might reference a medical condition or constitute medical advice. We are not - nor to the best of our knowledge are any other essential oil producers or distributors - licensed to give medical or therapeutic advice. We suggest you consult your qualified health care professional or certified aromatherapist. We do offer suggestions for well-qualified information sources under REFERENCES at

5. Questions about Essential Oil Therapy AethereoSticks

How long will an AethereoStick last?

When kept closed tightly and out of heat and sun, an AethereoStick will last for several weeks after being opened – up to three months or longer.

What are the benefits of using AethereoSticks, as opposed to patches or cotton balls?

Both user and caregiver appreciate how empowering it is to have control over when, for how long, and how frequently AethereoSticks are used. It is a personal decision when they desire to inhale the aroma. By contrast, the effect from the patch is in play as long as it is active.

With AethereoSticks, one can easily alternate or switch among them for various needs (for example, from nausea to anxiety). As AethereoSticks are kept capped except when in active use, they benefit only the user, whereas the patch affects everyone in the area. Even when in active use, AethereoSticks benefit only the user and do not affect others in the room. They are the ultimate in personal, private diffusion.

An AethereoStick will be effective to use for many months, versus a day for the effective-life of the patch, making AethereoSticks far more cost-effective.

Capped until used, the essential oil is inhaled from within a few inches, so very little aroma is lost to the atmosphere.

Aethereosticks are effective for at least three months after opening and with daily use, making them extremely cost-effective. Minimal use-by date is 12 months from date of manufacture. Our laboratory testing indicates viable product life is at least twice this length of time.

We currently offer 38 different AethereoSticks in essential oils and therapeutic blends formulated for specific and general well-being.

6. Questions about our Aethereo Massage Oils

Why use fractionated coconut oil (FCO) as a carrier oil, as opposed to jojoba, almond, sesame, or other carriers?

FCO has no discernible aroma of its own, contains only medium-chain triglycerides, and is therefore the most stable of all carrier oils. Our highly stable formulations will not oxidize over the life of the product. Aethereo Massage Oils offer pure, clean aromas unhindered by extraneous smells often found in other carrier oils. Their superior 'glide' means less is used during each massage. The right use of essential oils can assist the body's natural ability to balance, heal, and maintain wellness. Our guiding principle is that LESS IS MORE when using these precious plant oils.

Can your massage oils be used as shower oils for dry skin, or are they too thick?

Our massage oils are effective as barriers against excessive moisture loss. This is much different from claims often made in error – that oils are moisturizing. When massage oils are applied to the skin, they will enhance softness and lubricity, skin properties which are diminished by soaps and long bathing times.

7. Questions about Aethereo Everywhere Travel Fan Diffusers

How big is an Aethereo Everywhere Travel Fan Diffuser?

Aethereo Everywhere weighs less than four ounces (under six ounces with batteries), and measures approximately 2.5” high and 3.5” in diameter.

In what size space is an Aethereo Everywhere diffuser effective?

Depending on factors including airflow and humidity, this diffuser will be most effective within an eight to ten foot radius.

How is Aethereo’s Everywhere different from other fan diffusers?

Its unique features include: * attractive, elegant one-piece design * ultra-safe 5 volt USB power or AA battery operation * top and bottom covers that slide sideways to open and close * buffer ring to minimize EO carry-over * power light that can be turned off  * accessories available including micro USB cables, wall adapters, car adapters, replacement buffer rings, compressed paper aroma pads, and reuseable Aethereo AromaDisc pads.

How is it different from the H2EO Diffuser?

Aethereo Everywhere utilizes a small fan to diffuse the essential oil into the area it is being used. It is ideal for small spaces – cars, hotel rooms, small bedrooms, practitioners’ rooms, or travel to in-home treatment sessions. H2EO AirCare Ultrasonic Diffusers are by far the most efficient way to diffuse essential oils into a medium to large room. They are effective in an area up to 1500 to 2200 cubic feet. Using the water in the bowl of the diffuser as the “carrier” for the essential oil, each nano-droplet of water is covered with a molecule-thin coating of essential oil, which rapidly becomes part of the room’s atmosphere.

Does it matter which aroma pad is used?

The conventional compressed paper pad will only release part of the essential oil, as some will remain in the porous material. However, they are inexpensive, and if the same essential oil is used, they can be reused for a limited time. Aethereo’s polyethylene AromaDiscs will release virtually all of the essential oil. They can also be washed, dried, and reused several times. The material is impervious to essential oils, and contains no plasticizers.

How often should more essential oil be added?

These diffusers are designed to diffuse the majority of the essential oil in the first three hours, so adding more oil after 2-3 hours would be optimal.

Does the Aethereo Everywhere diffuser make any noise?

Aethereo Everywhere Diffusers operate so quietly, that you can’t hear the fan running unless you hold it to your ear. They do not make any beeping noises when turned on or off.

Does this diffuser heat the oils?

Aethereo Everywhere Diffusers use no heat from any source, therefore the essential oils diffused by them will not be heated.

Where is the Aethereo Everywhere diffuser manufactured?

Aethereo Everywhere diffusers are manufactured in Taiwan to Plant Extracts International’s design and technical specifications.

What is the purpose of the buffer ring?

The stainless steel buffer ring raises the aroma pad off the surface of the diffuser well, which helps prevent essential oil carry-over when changing from one oil to another.

The green light is on but I can't hear the diffuser running. How can I tell that it’s working?

Since it runs so quietly, you would have to hold the diffuser to your ear to hear it. If the green light is on, the diffuser is working.

Are there any essential oils that should not be used in this diffuser?

Any pure essential oils or pure essential oil blends can be used.

What is the best way to clean the AromaDiscs?

Simply clean your reusable AromaDisc with soap, hot water, and a toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly, and let dry.

How many times can I use an AromaDisc?

This will depend on: the quality of the essential oil; the amount of effort you want to put into cleaning versus the convenience of a new disc; and the degree to which you would like them to be free from previous aromas. The main advantage of the reusable disc is that you can clean off any old oxidized essential oil. You’ll be able to remove some of the aroma and color, but not necessarily all.

Can I use rechargeable batteries to run this diffuser?

Rechargeable batteries will work but they cannot be recharged in the diffuser.

Do I have to have a micro USB cable and a car adapter to use this diffuser in the car?

To use a car adapter (which you may already have for your cell phone) you need a USB cable (which you may also already have for your cell phone). Many people already own both, so if you do, you will not need a special Aethereo USB cable or car adapter.

Will having this diffuser in a sunny or hot place hurt it or the essential oils?

This would only be detrimental if left in a hot place for an extended amount of time, or if left in direct sunlight.

Is there BPA in this diffuser or in the AromaDiscs?

Aethereo Everywhere Diffusers and accessories are BPA-free. AromaDiscs contain no plasticizers.

Is there a warranty on this diffuser?

As there are no serviceable parts, there is no warranty for this diffuser.

How do I clean the Aethereo Everywhere Diffuser?

Gently clean the outside of the diffuser with an alcohol wipe, a soft, damp cloth, or a facial tissue. Wipe out the diffuser well in the same way. As with all electronic devices, be careful to not get water into the electronics.

I would like to know if by the water accumulating to the top of the clear plastic topper, and when it falls back down into the bowl of water, does it make a "drip drop" sound?

Thank you for contacting us. The transducer in the center of the diffuser bowl vibrates to create water nano-droplets covered with a molecule-thin coating of the essential oil you’ve added before diffusing. Because of the agitation the transducer creates in the water, the director nozzle has a baffle plate on the underside that faces the water’s surface. During diffusion, the baffle stops any water from escaping, while allowing the mist to diffuse into the atmosphere. The agitated water hitting the baffle on the underside of the director nozzle can sound like softly dripping water.
